Short Story Example:

A Brave Little Bird

When I was young I had a green parakeet that I called 'Charlie.'  Now Charlie was often let out of his cage to roam around the house.  One of my older brothers had a large Boxer dog, named Zack, who preferred to sleep on the floor in front

of the wood stove.  Well, Charlie, being a brave little bird would repeatedly land of Zack's nose and pick up a hair on his lip and bounce this big thick lip up and down.  This would be rather annoying if you were sleeping don't you think?
Well, Zack would just open one eye and take a look at Charlie and then continue to lie still resting and do nothing to that pretty little green bird.  Can you believe this?  It's true.
